Israeli troops killed three Palestinians on Sunday, (February 16) in Nablus during an operation to arrest Taysir Khaled, politburo of the Democratic Front for the Liberation of Palestine (DFLP) and three of his associates yesterday.

According to information gathered by LAW, Israeli troops backed by armored personnel carriers (APC) besieged a Nablus building where the DFLP offices are located. Troops used megaphones to order Khaled and his associates to surrender. The Israeli forces then opened fire on a crowd killing Ayman Abu Zant (17), Mohammad Takruri (35), and Firas Mabruka (22).

Taysir Khaled also represents the DLFP to the PLO as an executive committee member. He is the second executive committee member to be detained by Israeli authorities. Earlier, ‘Abd al-Rahim Malouh, also a member of the Executive Committee of the PLO, and politburo of the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP) was arrested.

Many high level Palestinian political activists, including those belonging to the PLFP, the DLFP, the People’s party, Fatah, Hamas and others have been arrested by Israel, or have been extra-judicially assassinated.
