Two Qassam rockets fired from the northern Gaza Strip Wednesday morning landed in open areas within Eshkol Regional Council limits. There were no reports of injuries or damage.

"We heard the Color Red siren (warning of incoming projectiles) and entered a secure room; then we heard two explosions," Negev resident Rivka said.

Shlomi, another local, said "the anxiety level is beginning to rise again."

Dozens of rockets and mortar shells have been fired towards the South since Israel ended its military offensive in Gaza. "True, this is not the same amount that was fired before Operation Cast Lead, but that's not the issue," Eshkol Regional Council head Haim Yalin told Ynet, "a sovereign country cannot allow rockets to be fired at its territory.

"Meanwhile, we are continuing to lead normal lives under insane conditions, and the government continues to ignore the situation. I guess the Iranian centrifuges are more important than what has been going on here for the past eight years," he said.

Overnight, the Israeli Air Force struck two arms-smuggling tunnels southern Gaza.

The army said direct hits were identified, adding that the aerial assault came in response to the firing of Qassam rockets and mortar

shells from the Hamas-ruled territory. The IDF holds Hamas responsible for any attack on south Israel.

Tuesday saw four rockets fired from north Gaza towards the South. Two of them landed near a kibbutz located south of the coastal city of Ashkelon and within Sdot Negev Regional Council limits. The other two were launched in the afternoon hours, with one landing in Palestinian territory and the other hitting near a western Negev community. There were no reports of injury in the attacks.

Shortly after the rocket attacks the Air Force struck a rocket cell in northern Gaza. Palestinian sources reported that two gunmen, driving a vehicle in the northern outskirts of Gaza City, sustained moderate and mild injuries.
