Your Key to Palestine
The Palestinian Initiatives for The Promotoion of Global Dialogue and Democracy

Mr. Ambassador,

I am writing you this letter concerning several boxes of books that I sent to the children of the refugee camps in Palestine and in Haifa. First, the authorities in your government confiscated in Haifa, yes confiscated the books and wanted to know the source and the purpose of these books. Cur contact Mr. Nadem Nashef, Director of Baladna, an Israeli non profit organization was detained and questioned for his activities of collecting children's books for poor children. When we protested and he argued that they are only used children's books, the books were released under certain conditions. The Israeli customs are asking now for 800 dollars in custom duties for a few boxes of used children's books of a value of a lot less than five hundred dollars. The friends who helped me collect these books and I think that this is " Appalling"," Outrageous", "NO wonder why Hamas does what it does" ,"pure harassment" and breeds anger, resentment and violence instead of peace which is we are trying to achieve. I can not be branded as anti Jewish or anti Semitic because I am an Arab and I was a member of a group of young men who protected the property of Lebanese Jews in Lebanon after the 1967 war when some thugs tried to attack the Jewish properties in Beirut when you were confiscating the properties of Palestinians in the land that you occupied by military force in 1967. Also, I have many Jewish friends and both of my children have Jewish friends and roommates and colleagues. Hundreds of the books collected were donated by our Jewish friends who are appalled and ashamed of you and your government and your actions in the name of Judaism. The actions that Adolph Hitler would not have thought off and would be turning in his grave for hearing about it and how you have even outdone him in killing and murdering innocent people.

A street in Beirut, Lebanon was named after my uncle Haj Saeed Hamad, who advised us to protect the Jewish property because " we are all humans and God will judge us and we should not judge each other and harm each other." He was instrumental in protecting ZIlka Bank in downtown Beirut with the assistance of many young men like me. The other uncle Omar Hamad, was hanged by the Ottoman Turks because he taught Arabic which was illegal under the Ottoman Turks rule and he even spoke and sang in Arabic, English and French in 1916. He was offered amnesty in exchange for forsaking teaching the Arabic language and he and in Arabic when the Turks put a rope around his neck to hang him for his" crime" in downtown Beirut, May 5th, 1916. The statue of the Martyrs stands in downtown Beirut to tell his story and the story of the love of freedom and justice.

Mr. Ambassador,

While, it is true that you are powerful and influential and you can achieve any of your goals in the United States with your lobby and with your military might in Palestine, I am a United States citizen and let me remind you that we are a sue happy society and we tend to exercise our rights whenever we choose. As a United States citizen I enjoy and practice this national pass time hobby to seek redress for my grievances and to recover what i lost due to negligence and unlawful acts.

I hereby give you a business proposal that I hope you will consider and pass along to your government. If you release the books and refund the taxes that we have paid so far in the last six months for the books and computers we send for the children which is a violation of the laws of the United States as Israeli charities are not charged custom duties in the United States I will not sue you. The books were used and for humanitarian reasons and I have spent more than 5000 dollars of my personal savings to buy and ship these books. I suggest you contact the attorney for the embassy to find out if the actions of your government are violations agreements and treaties between the United States and Israel. I am familiar with the laws and the treaties in question because one my seven college degrees is a Masters in Political Science with a concentration in International law. I will not provide you with the name of the treaty to give your attorney a challenge to research the legality and the consequences of the actions of your government.

You are hereby advised that unless I hear from you in the next thirty days of your agreement to release the books and the refund of all duties paid by me I will have no choice but to file a lawsuit against you in federal courts and the courts of the state of Texas for violating trade agreements. Also, I will be launching a campaign to let the people of the United Starets of the arrogance of your government and its criminal acts towards the children of Palestine by depriving them even books to read. As if you need such good publicity. What do you think that the good people of this country will say and think when they hear that the strongest military in the region is imposing a 24 curfew on children, depriving them of food, water, electricity and even books to read while under occupation. My friends and I are waiting for your response and expect a lawsuit and may several and a campaign to show you our passion and love for the children of Palestine and how much we care for them.

Mr. Ambassador,

I am not bluffing or threatening. Please call Mr. Charles Snyder, Director of the Civil Litigation Division in the Justice Deparment, Tax Divisions and his assistant MS. Laurie Sndyer, of the same office in Washington D.C. where you reside. We have been in court for the last five years over a 300 dollars tax dispute. Several of their attorneys and a two judges had to be flown to Austin and San Antonio, Texasto hear my case and it is still to be resolved. I continue to refuse a settlement to cause them the maximum monetary damage so they would not have a surplus to fund your killing machine. They have spent more than 200 hours and more than 20 000 dollars to fight this claim which cost me a mere 60 dollars court costs and few hours oh my pc during my free time. A Mr. Jeffery Friedman, an ex mayor of the city of Austin who phone numbers is (512)477 9641 will tell you that he spent over 30 000 dollars in attorneys fees in state and federal courts over a set of business papers that he unlawfully took from me and I fought him to take them back and put them in the recycling bin where I wanted them in the first place. Five years later and eight lawsuits he begged a federal court judge to stop me and he could not. I am not threatening but promising that unless you release the books and refund the taxes I will fight you in courts with the stubbornness of Omar Hamad and the diligence that I fought the Internal Revenue Service and Mr. Friedman. While it is going to cost you tens of thousand of dollars and will tarnish your reputation which is closer to that of a garbage bin, it will cost me a mere 150 dollars in attorneys fees and the pleasure of contributing to your financial bankruptcy after you have successfully shown the whole that you are morally bankrupt and nothing but a bunch of blood thirsty murderers.

Mr. Ambassador,

My friends and I will fight for these books with the same passion that we work to support and help the wonderful children of Palestine. We will seek redress under every state and federal statue there is to get my books back that I sent to the children of Palestine.

Looking forward to hearing from you a positive response to my request. W will scan and forward to you the copy of the court petition fifteen days from now if W do not hear from you as W will assume that you reject my offer.

Riad Elsolh Hamad
