Letters To The Editor:

Regarding Joel Abramson's letter to the editor, there's so much misinformation, I don't know where to start ("Nasty labels do not help Mideast situation," Dec. 23). But I'll take a stab. First of all, Arabs do not enjoy the same civil rights under law as do Jews because, for one thing, Arabs are restricted to how much land they can own in Israel, but not so for Jews. This alone does not constitute "absolutely the same civil rights under law as do the Jews" as Mr. Abramson falsely tries to claim.

Second, the Arabs do not want the West Bank and Gaza "Judenrein," as Mr. Abramson slyly Nazified in his words toward a people who had nothing to do with Nazi Germany, but who have since had to bear the punishment of that other horrific time in history. Unfortunately, it seems the horrors of that era are not over, and are repeatedly thrown around to justify the horrors of the Israeli government, except - sorry, Mr. Abramson - this time, the victims are Palestinian.

Palestinians are not racist simply because their occupiers and murderers happen to be Jewish and they desire to see them go away. Palestinians had nothing to do with that fact, the Zionists did and have since used it to oppress and kill, then turn around and conveniently cry anti-Semitism each time the victim tries to fight back.

But last, if Mr. Abramson believes that Judaism is not a race, as he has so studiously made claim, then why does he later state a couple of paragraphs down that Palestinians are racist towards Jews? How can one be racist toward a people who together, do not comprise a single race as he just defended a couple of paragraphs prior? If I didn't know better, I'd still be confused.

Yes, it's difficult to keep track when you try to revise history, or try to make claims that are so out of whack, it's almost impossible to keep track of them. I have one suggestion for Mr. Abramson as was quoted by Mark Twain, "always tell the truth; then you don't have to remember anything."
