The Palestinian Initiatives for The Promotoion of Global Dialogue and Democracy

The Palestinian Initiative for the Promotion of Global Dialogue and Democracy- MIFTAH and Ensan Centre for Democracy & Human Rights, are calling for a press conference at 11:00 am on Wednesday, May 24, 2006 at the Palestinian Medic Center, AL WAtaneyyah Towers to discuss a letter that Palestinian public figures, political leaders and representatives of Palestinian civil society sent to president George W. Bush on the eve of Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert’s visit to the U.S.

The letter highlights Palestinian concerns regarding Olmert’s unilateralist policy and stresses the Palestinian commitment to a peaceful negotiated settlement based on all relevant UN Resolutions and signed agreements.

The group urges President Bush to take a stand in order to prevent Israel from unilaterally declaring its border and to curb its ever expanding settlement project, which effectively precludes the establishment of a viable and contiguous Palestinian State.
